Whale Watching

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to go whale watching with a local Mooloolaba company Whale One. It was up early on Saturday morning, excitement levels running high to see the whales. The weather did not really play along, but it was not going to stop us. The operator boldly guarantees whale sighting – a tall order I thought... During the trip out to sea I had a couple of quick conversations with the crew to check their level of confidence on whale sighting on the day as was assured that we will get to see them. This involuntarily made me go through the business model (with the little insight I had to my disposal) and came to the conclusion that with knowledge and experience a business can make something that is not easy available as a product with a guarantee. We saw dolphins playing at the bow, even a little pup, trying its hardest to keep up with adults. After about three hours the whales were spotted and the crew took us close enough to see the barnacles on these massive animals! An experience that will be with our family for years to come.
